Lake City and Columbia County, Florida are known as "The Gateway to Florida" because Interstates 10 & 75 intersect there, carrying a large percentage of Florida's tourist and trade traffic. Lake City is the first sizable town/city in Florida when traveling south on Interstate 75 from Georgia.
